three years

anniversary2

Exactly three years ago, I met my soul mate. Since then we have explored France together, adopted the sweetest dog–he seriously is, and bought our first home. I am grateful for everyday that we have together. I look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries.

I found this card, and I think it sums up my thoughts pretty well (not to mention the accurate depictions of our style contrasts). Inside the card, the message is: “We may have different tastes, but we’ll always be a perfect pair. I love that…and I love you. Happy Anniversary.” I love you sweetie.

happy friday + spring is here

turkeys

While going on a walk with Juno the other day, I came across more than twenty turkeys. Our feathered neighbors have returned from wintering some place warm. Spring is official here. Our magnolia tree in the yard is blooming. We’ve been showered with beautiful weather all week and the weekend will be just as nice. I plan on spending most of it outdoors. I hope there’s plenty of sunshine where you are too;)

If you’re reading this, I really want to say thank you and that I appreciate the support. I know it’s been quiet around here lately. Work has taken up most of my time, leaving little room for adventures or a social life. I especially miss my bestie, Nina, whom I know is going through an exceptionally tough time:( I hope to visit her very soon. Love you wifey!

I feel guilty that I have to work late often because that means Cliff will eat dinner alone and will probably pick from his usual unhealthy options. Yesterday, I surprised Cliff by coming home early to make a nutritious meal: quinoa salad, grilled chicken and veggies. Okay, not everything was healthy. Valentine’s day would not be complete without something sweet, hence the homemade, vanilla lemon cake.

In keeping with our Valentine’s Day tradition, we are going to enjoy a fancy meal tonight to avoid the crowds. And because my gift did not arrive as planned, Cliff will take me jewelry shopping tonight too. Gotta love Valentine’s Day:)

Hope your Valentine’s Day was full of love too!

p.s. I’ve been obsessing (listening repeatedly) over two love songs: stay and next to me

happy friday + puppy tugs

tug

Juno met his adorable cousin Pancho for the first time this Christmas. It was love at first sight–they literally couldn’t keep their paws and mouths off each other. Juno loves being around other dogs. Maybe Cliff will let us adopt a pup sibling for Juno to play tug with everyday. With a dog and two kitties already, I’ll have to bring my A game to get Cliff on board. Maybe one day… In the meantime, we’re going to take Juno to the city tomorrow for some much-needed fun outing. Cliff and I are finally healthy for the first time this year. Hope you have a beautiful weekend too!

Juno could not wait to remove his spider costume last night. It didn’t prevent him from doing lots of tricks for treats though. Hope you had an exciting Halloween last night!

weekend highlights

5 Sep

We’ve had a busy weekend over the holiday. Here are some memorable moments:

*Juno had his best day at the doggie park crashing in on an English Bulldog party.

*Cliff and I finally enjoyed a date in San Francisco (despite his tiredness).

*I made lavender cake using fresh lavender from our garden. The cake deviates from this recipe. To my surprise, the cake was delicious and I was glad to share it with friends.

*My dad has worked hard to transform our small yard into something amazing. Did I mention it’s almost ready?

*Fuchsia from the garden. More images to come soon.

*This cutie was born on Labor’s Day. Congrats to my friends Lidia and Awet!

I’ve finally adopted Instagram after much reluctance. Can you blame me? Sometimes it feels like the social media is on steroid and it’s hard to keep up: Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, and Pinterest. Yet, I’ve grown fond of Instagram’s ease of use and neat photo filters. Above are a few Instagram images from my adventures in Oakland and Berkeley over the weekend with my bestie. I miss spending wasting time with her.

He may not care for tutus or for pink, but Juno looks adorable in a colorful frock. Have a beautiful weekend!

morning hikes

The boys and I went for a short hike climb at Sunol Regional Wilderness this past weekend. Juno is usually the first to reach the summit and the first to return to the car. He loves running around in the wild, so much that he didn’t notice the biggest banana slug ever!
