Hope you enjoyed your long weekend. Did you go anywhere exciting? Cliff and I opted to stay home. My dear friend came to visit, but her car overheated while en route. She was recently robbed at gun-point and we didn’t want to leave her stranded in a sketchy neighborhood. Talk about bad luck! I am so grateful she was not harmed.
It was less than three months ago that I was still driving my old Honda Accord. I was paranoid about the Accord breaking down “any minute.” The car would randomly shut down in the middle of driving. Not exactly safe, that’s what Cliff thought! A good reason for him to he buy a new, adventure car…
and give me his old ride. Talk about upgrades!
Juno loves cuddling with his best friend!
Juno’s best friend’s best friend.
Juno chilin’ in the shade with Uncle Richie.
I met all of my closest friends as an adult (post high school.) A part of me have always envied people like Cliff who still have childhood friends. Unfortunately, all of Cliff’s close friends live in Texas, so he rarely gets to see them. Over the weekend, however, one of his best friends visited us for a few days. Cliff and Juno were both very happy hanging out with Richie, even when it was a little too hot to hike in Little Yosemite. Yay for friendships.
I used to think Juno was the smartest dog ever (see what he can do here) until I saw this video. Nana, the Border Collie, is so impressively intelligent and agile. My favorite is trick is when Nana jumps on her owner’s feet in the ear. Juno may not do everything Nana can, but he’s still the sweetest dog. I know I am partial;)
Enjoy your weekend!
Over the weekend I fell and cut my arm on broken ceramic pieces. The laceration was not “big,” but was deep enough to require stitches.:/ Why must I be so clumsy? It’s been interesting learning how to use my non-dominant hand to get through my daily happenings. As much as I am improving with my left hand, I am looking forward to full use of my right hand again.
If you’re reading, then I really want to thank you for sticking around. I miss blogging! Four months is too long. I’ve been busy with other projects (including some overdue home renovations) and enjoying quality time with the loves in my life.
A few weeks ago, I visited Jackson Hole and Yellowstone for the first time in my life for Cliff’s mini family reunion. Here are the highlights.
Enjoying wonderful dinners with Cliff’s family. Aren’t they a sweet bunch?
Posing in front of the Teton Mountains. Yes, Cliff is wearing the same green top that is found in many of our other outings’ pictures. He prefers his wardrobe to not be as extensive as mine;)
My favorite part of the trip was riding a horse for the first time. I had to learn how to be assertive with my horse, Pow Wow, which refused to stay on the trail. Let’s just say his free-spirit left a scar on my leg. Despite this minor mishap, I love the experience and look forward to doing more equestrian activities.
Another first was river rafting on Snake River. I wish the Snake had more rapids. I may try to paddle next time.
I also saw bison for the first time. They’re especially cute when they wallow in the dirt.
I had to endure clouds of boiling farts (sulfur is so noisome!) to see gorgeous geysers. Isn’t the blue so dreamy?
How about the blueness of this lake?
Finally, one of my favorite pictures from the trip;) In case you didn’t notice, I dyed my hair ombre (I only dyed my hair once a long, long time ago). What do you think?
Exactly three years ago, I met my soul mate. Since then we have explored France together, adopted the sweetest dog–he seriously is, and bought our first home. I am grateful for everyday that we have together. I look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries.
I found this card, and I think it sums up my thoughts pretty well (not to mention the accurate depictions of our style contrasts). Inside the card, the message is: “We may have different tastes, but we’ll always be a perfect pair. I love that…and I love you. Happy Anniversary.” I love you sweetie.
While going on a walk with Juno the other day, I came across more than twenty turkeys. Our feathered neighbors have returned from wintering some place warm. Spring is official here. Our magnolia tree in the yard is blooming. We’ve been showered with beautiful weather all week and the weekend will be just as nice. I plan on spending most of it outdoors. I hope there’s plenty of sunshine where you are too;)
If you’re reading this, I really want to say thank you and that I appreciate the support. I know it’s been quiet around here lately. Work has taken up most of my time, leaving little room for adventures or a social life. I especially miss my bestie, Nina, whom I know is going through an exceptionally tough time:( I hope to visit her very soon. Love you wifey!
I feel guilty that I have to work late often because that means Cliff will eat dinner alone and will probably pick from his usual unhealthy options. Yesterday, I surprised Cliff by coming home early to make a nutritious meal: quinoa salad, grilled chicken and veggies. Okay, not everything was healthy. Valentine’s day would not be complete without something sweet, hence the homemade, vanilla lemon cake.
In keeping with our Valentine’s Day tradition, we are going to enjoy a fancy meal tonight to avoid the crowds. And because my gift did not arrive as planned, Cliff will take me jewelry shopping tonight too. Gotta love Valentine’s Day:)
Hope your Valentine’s Day was full of love too!
p.s. I’ve been obsessing (listening repeatedly) over two love songs: stay and next to me
Juno met his adorable cousin Pancho for the first time this Christmas. It was love at first sight–they literally couldn’t keep their paws and mouths off each other. Juno loves being around other dogs. Maybe Cliff will let us adopt a pup sibling for Juno to play tug with everyday. With a dog and two kitties already, I’ll have to bring my A game to get Cliff on board. Maybe one day… In the meantime, we’re going to take Juno to the city tomorrow for some much-needed fun outing. Cliff and I are finally healthy for the first time this year. Hope you have a beautiful weekend too!
Happy birthday to the sweetest and kindest person ever, Cliff’s mom. Cheers to Linda!
